About The Gray Rock Team

The Gray Rock Team can provide the professional capabilities required for your project.  The combined staff includes two registered Civil Engineers, a licensed Landscape Architect, a Landscape Architect Intern, and a strong technical and administrative support staff.  Our support aids in the production of plans and specifications and in the preparation of exhibits for presentations.

Gray Rock Consulting is currently licensed to practice engineering in six states: Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, and New Mexico.  Additionally, Phil Swope has been certified by the National Council of Engineering Examiners, which means that he is pre-qualified to be licensed in all other states by reciprocity.  Phil also has earned a Wastewater Operators License from the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.

Dirk Thilbodaux is a licensed Professional Landscape Architect in Arkansas and Oklahoma.  Dirk is also certified by the Council of Landscape Architecture Registration Board, which means he can easily obtain a license in other states if needed for a particular project.

The combined Grey Rock Team understand the need to work together with other design professionals, like architects, traffic engineers, surveyors, and geotechnical firms. We have worked successfully in ten states with many other design professionals.

The Gray Rock team has extensive experience is working with a large number of City and State agencies; obtaining permits and providing design services.  Phil Swope and Gary Carnahan have both worked in City Engineering and City Planning; increasing their understanding of needs of local governments.  Caranahan currently serves as the the Chairman of the Public Works Committee for the Washington County, AR Quorum Court.

As part of our overall design services, the Gray Rock Team will prepare and maintain schedules and we insist on excellence in communication and reporting.  We will also be responsible for project administration, contracts, and cost estimating.  Some of the more common capabilities we provide are listed below.
